What I Offer
I am a person-centred counsellor, which means that the work we do together is shaped by you. You are the only expert on what makes you happy, sad, or anxious. I will not decide what is best for you. I will not try to fix you. We will work as a team to explore your feelings and emotions, allowing you to begin to understand them and decide what you wish to do with them.
There will not be any homework, no advice, no philosophical clichés and, most importantly, no judgment. Your background, relationships and experiences have all shaped who you are right now, and I will accept you as you are, from the moment I meet you until the time we finish our work together.
There is no right or wrong way to do counselling, no pressure to be anyone other than yourself at any time, and no shame if you struggle with it. It can be tough going sometimes, but extremely powerful. I think there is something remarkable about being able to talk to someone you can completely trust not to judge you, and the act of speaking words we have never voiced before can be so liberating.
My counselling room is a space where you can feel comfortable, respected and completely safe.
I offer 50-minute weekday sessions in the daytime and evening to individual adults who are in the UK.
How I work
I offer a free, 30-minute taster session to see if you would like to work with me. I will ask you certain questions about your circumstances and history to make sure that I am the right counsellor, and if this is the right type of counselling, for you. If you then want to continue, I will give you a welcome pack and we will book our first full appointment.
I will carry out occasional reviews with you as we continue, just to make sure that you are getting what you need from the sessions.
I do not offer quick fixes. Some people can continue with their counsellors for ongoing support for periods stretching into months and even years, so I will offer you support for as long as we both feel it is needed.
